I don’t know what it is about glass jars, but I just love them. They activate the collector in me. I have a small collection of vintage Crown jars (the ones pictured are my latest additions – scored at a yard sale, all for $22!) and a budding collection of Weck jars. I think I like them because of the beauty of their craftsmanship. I would also like to be very organized one day, and have this as my dream pantry. And, perhaps, because you can build terrariums in them.

I love dream catchers. I love how they look and the power they hold. I one-day hope to own a giant hand crafted dream catcher to suspend from the middle of my bedroom ceiling.

I love salt & pepper shakers. I guess I am one of those people, but I don’t even like pepper! They are another thing that activates the collector in me. I’d say I have around 20 salt & pepper shaker sets. I like how quirky they all are; each brings a little whimsy to the table. My most recent salt & pepper purchase are these guys – I love how odd they are!

I love crystals. It is amazing that something so beautiful is hiding within something so plain as a rock. The natural world is constantly astounding, and I find gemstones and crystals one of the most astounding creations. I have a friend who believes in the healing power of crystals, and she’s inspired me to learn more. Besides their power, they are simply beautiful objects. There is an artist based out of Hamilton, ON, who creates beautiful jewellery using raw rocks, minerals, and gemstones. Her company is called Rare Specimens. She is one of my favourite jewelers and I have quite a few of her pieces.

I love Rifle Paper Co. Anna Bond is an amazing artist and a very savvy business woman. She creates the most lovely illustrations and turns them into useful objects! I’ve given her cards, I use her calendar, I keep myself organized with her weekly list desk pad, and I have one of her art prints hanging in my room. Her illustration style is gorgeous and her subject matter is always cheerful. Not far from Rifle Paper Co. is my love for Quill & Fox. I’m on a roll collecting prints from her as well!
Back in the summer of 2012 I went on a road trip across Canada from Toronto to Vancouver. It opened my eyes to all the natural beauty and wonder Canada has to offer, and made me hungry for more. Whether I’m in one of Canada’s most famous National Parks (as in my photo of the Athabasca Falls) or simply lying on the grass on a perfect summer day, I feel alive in nature. It is constantly changing and always fuel for inspiration.
